MAKING THE BEST CHAINSAW & PRUNING TOOL CHOICE

RYOBI TEAM
10 APRIL 2021

From felling trees to pruning roses, RYOBI has the right cutting and pruning tools for your task. Once you know the diameter of the material you intend to cut, choosing the best chainsaw or pruning tool is easy.

THE BIG STUFF

Diameter up to 300mm How to choose the best chainsaw for your task

If you’re not using a chainsaw often and the material you intend to cut is less than 200mm in diameter, a lighter, nimbler and easier to start 18V ONE+ or some 36V units are suited for larger than 200mm, as are AC-powered models, providing you have access to mains power (240V). For larger chainsaw tasks and regular felling of trees, a 36V model or petrol may be the best choice. Ideally, choose a bar length (usually in inches) that’s longer than the diameter of what you intend to cut. Cordless and AC models are low-maintenance tools compared to petrol models, however, most chainsaws need chain and bar oil.

UP HIGH

Diameter less than 200mm and less than 32mm

Pole Products

Pole Pruners are chainsaws on a pole (that can extend up to 2.9m depending on the model). Keeping both feet firmly planted on the ground while you trim overhead branches is much safer than scaling a ladder with a chainsaw.

Another option for materials up to 32mm in diameter is a Telescopic Bypass Lopper. These units use a bypass cutting action to trim material, giving a cleaner cut. Also extending up to 2.9m, this tool is perfect for overhanging branches and small limbs.
